Date: Fri 10 - Sun 12 July

Lake District Weekender

friday 10th – sunday 12th July

Arrive Friday evening (between 08.00 and 22.00 latest), leave Sunday or later if you like.

That’s right folks it’s time for the annual mass camping trip….the observant among you will have noticed that this year the destination is the Lake District as opposed to Fort William. Fort Bill has been the venue for the last couple of camping trips but we have decided to expand our horizons….

location

The proposed area within the Lakes is near Glenridding on Ullswater, which is in the east lakes giving good access to the M6. Travel time to Glenridding is 2.5 hours by car which is comparable with the journey time to Fort William. The weather is usually also more predictable in the lakes than in the highlands and there are many less flying sharks (midges).

The campsite we are proposing is Side Farm - http://www.lakedistrictcamping.co.uk/campsites/northeast/side_farm.htm

Please note that Side Farm do not take bookings so it will be first come first serve! There are other campsites in the vicinity if Side Farm is full. Those of you sharing tents will require to co-ordinate before booking as costs are on per head basis rather than tent-size

costs

Adult £4.50 - per person
Child £3.00 - per person
Cars and motorcycles £2.00/50p
Dogs 50p

Prices are per night and correct at the time of sending

activities

The lakes have a wealth of outdoor activities to enjoy along with good pubs, cake shops and restaurants. Glenridding provides walking access to Helvellyn, England’s third highest mountain, Ullswater for kayaking etc and the Grizdale Forest. Those of you have been on one of these jollies before will know that we normally split up during the day and reconvene at a hostelry for food and or drinks in the evening.

See links below for potential activities during the Saturday….
